Ever had one of those days? I am sure we all have. This one ranks right up there with getting fired and finding out I had cancer all on the same day. Not just the same date but the same DAY!!
I had submitted a “Novella”, story told in between 1000 and 4000 words. I researched and bugged my big brother Ron to read and put his two cents worth in. And he did. I scrapped together the submitting fee, and off went my baby to the world of anyone who wanted to read it. Guess what? They must not have wanted to read it. Today was the day when they were to notify the winners. 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and the rest of us want to be writers. I just sent off an email – begging to be told that if not in the first three PLEASE tell me I am at least not dead last!! No response. So I guess my placement among the literary giants will have to wait. Maybe a year or two?
Well, I found a bottle of Tequila in the back of the fridge, I am not sure if the orange juice has gone bad but I don’t remember Tequila tasting this bad!!! Well, I read the phrase from Mexico: 1 Tequila, 2 Tequila, 3 Tequila…. floor!! I must be somewhere between 2 and 3. I remain in my chair at my utterly messy desk. Remember Hemingway? No wonder he drank!
Maybe I should burn the print out in effigy? Does Tequila make a good fire starter? Because it really doesn’t make a good drink. I must be getting OLD!!!
Well, one more rejection… What to write next?? How about taste testing Tequila…. there has to be better tasting stuff out there. Send all samples to Kirk, CO 80824 – trust me they will know who to sent them to!! Wow, it that the FLOOR?!?!? Time to stop drinking! fyi: no WORMS were swallowed in the making of this blog! Mmmm this stuff doesn’t taste that bad after all….
