Be Kind

I just saw a little video. The lady was 73 and she seemed to be having health problems. She had worked in the hospital where she was being taken for her issues. She was talking about her 3rd marriage. She said “When he came to the door I tell him he is sexy!” Well that was when segregation was still a wide held belief. He was white and she was black. They were to gether for over 30 years. She said the thing that her husband taught her was to “Be kind” No matter what is said, or done “Be kind” Her husband passed away and her motto is still “Be kind” it reminded me of that movie with Jimmy Stewart – Harvey. the line in it that says

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she’d say, “In this world, Elwood, you must be” – she always called me Elwood – “In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant.” Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.
